Self-Drive Tours of New Zealand
Self-drive holidays in New Zealand are becoming increasingly popular, as both first-time and seasoned visitors are eager to see more of the country independently. Driving conditions are ideal as the roads are all maintained, and outside of the big cities you're likely to have the road to yourself!
ANZ Nature Tours can provide an extensive range of holiday products, offering almost everything you could want as an independent traveller to New Zealand.
Visitors hiring a car will be asked to provide their home country licence, as long as it is in English. If the licence is in another language, an International Driver's Permit or English translation is required. Traffic in New Zealand (and Australia) drives on the left hand side of the road, so if you're American or European, some adjustment will be required, whereas those from England, Australia, Japan and many Asian countries will feel completely at home.
Most of the major car hire companies have desks at airports, ferry terminals and cities throughout New Zealand. Please note: car hire companies do not generally rent to those under 21 years of age.
